It's with a proud and ecstatic heart that I report this news today! Our investigation into an Iowa pig farm that breeds piglets destined for Hormel has resulted in 22—that's right, count them—22 criminal charges.
The Greene County Sheriff just announced in a news release that six individuals employed by the farm at the time of PETA's investigation now face a total of 22 counts of livestock neglect and abuse. Those charged include a former farm manager—who we understand still works on another pig factory farm—and a supervisor, as well as two individuals who still punch the clock at the Iowa factory farm as we speak.
A whopping 14 of the counts are aggravated misdemeanors—the stiffest possible charges under Iowa state law for crimes committed against farmed animals—carrying up to two years behind bars. To PETA's knowledge, this is unprecedented.
Charges based on PETA's undercover investigations are now pending against pig factory farmers in both Iowa—the nation's top pig-raising state—and North Carolina, which occupies the second rung on that dubious list!
This is a small victory for farmed animals, but we mustn't forget that Hormel, which financially supports this farm, has by all appearances yet to make any changes as a result of this investigation. It has refused to meet with us or even watch all of the footage, which we have repeatedly offered to show the company. Maybe now that the law has spoken up, Hormel will finally listen.
Please, urge Hormel to take action now.

JUSTICE SHOULD BE SERVED OR AT LEAST FINED. WHICH PROBABLY ISN'T ENOUGH TO STOP THESE PEOPLE WHO TREAT LIVESTOCK LIKE HOG CRAP. I PRAY EVERYDAY THAT SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN, IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME.

FANTASTIC! This is amazing. Let us know who the prosecutor is so we can wrote him or her and urge maximum time.
Bravo, kudos, and many many thanks to the brave person or persons who went undercover to get the evidence needed to expose these crimes.
Now I'm going to send my demands for reform and enforcement to Hormel once again.

A letter writing as well as personal appearances at all court proceedings is imperative.
We need to push for convictions on ALL counts.
Sentencing needs to be consecutive on each count.
Posted by: Thomas | October 22, 2008 11:57 PM
I'm glad the charges were pressed and only UP TO two years in prison is ridiculous though. They should be there WAY longer than that. I don't know how you guys do it. I wouldn't be ablt to tape that footage and just sit there and watch. I would end up grabbing the pole and bashing all of the sickos who work there repeatedly until they were uncoscious and then I would end up in jail. ha. I give you props. Good job keep up the good work.

Great news! I will spread this around
Posted by: Curtis | October 23, 2008 06:41 AM
I am so happy that finally charges have been filed. I have been thinking about this story ever since the first time I saw it on your site. It has haunted me ever since. While I honestly, haven't moved over to a completely meat free lifestyle, I will NEVER EVER eat pork again.
Posted by: chrissy | October 23, 2008 09:34 AM
If we can make an example of a very few, this could possibly set standards for the future. Eyes are watching!! And if you feel it's your right to abuse an animal you also may pay a price, literaly!! Way to go to all involved and to the private investigators, cause without you this wouldn't have ever been exposed!! Go veg everyone and trully make a pig smile!!

Great job peta, hope these people get what they deserve, they poor animals should never have been treated like this, its heart breaking.
Posted by: Eilish | October 23, 2008 10:59 AM
What makes these losers think they have the right to object rape and spray paint the face of animals? These lowlifes need to do some hard time and hopefully get their faces spray painted and their bodies object raped to know what the poor animals had to go through. These jerks are serial killers in the making. Most probably beat their wives and children and/or have criminal records. I hope the judge throws the book at all of them. Lowlifes like these make America look bad. Willing to bet a lot of them are illegals.

This is fantastic! I have never gotten over this video and can no longer eat pork. It makes me sick to think that human beings can inflict this kind or cruel torture. I am so glad to hear that these thugs are going to be held accountable. We must see it through to prosecution!!! Thank you PETA!!!

im so pleased about this outcome, they all deserve it and more.. i have to say that the undercover people have the horific job of standing back and not being able to smack these people as i know i wouldnt beable to stop myself well done peta i love it when you are able to announce good news instead of the horrible news..
Posted by: emma | October 23, 2008 11:37 AM
Ok so yesturday i didnt even realize that animals get treated to badly. Its terrible how they treat animals. i am so glad that something is being done. It makes my day.
Posted by: Magen | October 23, 2008 11:46 AM
Absolutely Fabulous!
It's about time that states notice the seriousness of animal cruelty, not just to the poor and defensless animals, but to the public as well. It's a fact that people who abuse animals are more likely to abuse others, especially those less fortunate. Way To Go, PETA! Let's keep on being "the change we seek in the world!"
Posted by: Erika Soerensen | October 23, 2008 11:54 AM
If this abuse continues, there will come a plague so big it will wipe Hormel consumers off the face of the Earth! CONGRATULATIONS INGRID AND PETA FOR BRINGING THIS GROSS ABUSE TO LIGHT AND PURSUING CONVICTIONS FOR THIS CRIMINAL CONDUCT. GOD BLESS YOU PETA!!!!!!!

best news, well done of peta.We pray everyday for those pigs and this fuckers who abused them must be killed in jail.
Posted by: glenn mcmaster | October 23, 2008 01:52 PM
Even if we cannot stop people from eating meat it is important that we ensure the animals used for human consumption are treated with respect and care. It makes me sick and sad that humanes would abuse innocent animals. I am pleased that these horrible individuals are being punished.
Posted by: Laura Harrington | October 23, 2008 01:53 PM
I have not seen the original video, nor do I care to. I have done so much crying over, sheep, bunnies, cows etc. But I do want to say...
GREAT JOB PETA, I LOVE YOU
Posted by: Jacquelyn | October 23, 2008 02:13 PM
Do you know what is odd? When I contacted Hormel about the issue they claimed that they did not own this factory. However when I emailed back and asked them if they "purchase" from this factory I received no response. They deserve everything they are getting and more! Those people that did those things are sick and should be prosecuted.

I watched the video... I cried at work.. I dug deeper into PETA and found more disturbing videos on ALL animal treatment. I am having a hard time with it. A friend suggests that local farmers and butchers for food... I have a hard time ordering any beef, pork and hate to see the semi's that carry the baby cows for veal.... God did not put these animals here to hurt..
Posted by: Kandi | October 23, 2008 02:36 PM
I live in a small town in northwest Iowa. The Hormel story is all over the news. My heart is sad for these animals. Education is the key to preventing these kinds of EVIL acts against animals. I have consumed meat my entire life. I am 49 years old. I am trying to reduce my intake of meat everyday; as I am not sure how to make the transition to not eating meat. PETA has raised my conscience enough that I am making an effort to try and change my diet. I hope that these individuals who committed these heinous acts against those innocent pigs have plenty of time to think about what they did while possibly sitting in prison.

EXCELLENT job PETA and ONCE AGAIN, THANKS SO MUCH to the ones behind the camera they have got some HARD CORE self discipline to stand behind the camera and allow the abuse to stand. THEY are the heros!!
OK so we got the employees, and like I ALWAYS say, HORMEL has its lobbyists so they can BUY & BRIBE to continue on with business AS USUAL...you can clearly see it, the ARROGANT GREEDY bastards won't even view the video, NO BIG DEAL their $$$$ does the talking!
Again, the ONLY way to END the VICIOUS abuse is to STOP eating meat, it's the ONLY way SORRY to say BUT with PETA lurking behind every closed door ') these multi million dollar corps WILL NOT continue on with their HORRIFIC deeds IN THE DARK in HOPES that the meat addict consumer will BEGIN to SEE THE LIGHT on this issue and choose the ETHICAL way of survival.
Just wanted to add, LOOK at her laying there with her blue spray painted face :( (and NOT antibiotics like one DOPE up here claimed, geez) NOTICE the HUMILIATION in her eyes, just BREAKS my heart to pieces...
The soul IS the SAME in ALL living creatures although the body of EACH is different.

God BLESS the Beasts AND the ONE behind the camera ')

I dread to think if Peta had not uncovered this at this particular pork supplier.. it truly is loathesome and upsetting to think of animals suffering so 'behind closed doors'.. Grt job PeTA.. you are truly the animals friend and 'voice'.. hope those culprits involved will be named and shamed. given the boot .. and have a permanent record on their ID forever for cruelly and maliciously enjoying and getting a kick out of abusing animals.. it's humans like these that are really the PITS of the pits .. I'm ashamed to be same species as these people !! they are WORSE than animals atleast animals kill for food or maim out of self defence or territorial .. animals dont' go around mistreating or abusing other animals for the 'fun' of it.. like these morons do/did and many other humans in the same ilk..
Posted by: gem | October 23, 2008 03:09 PM
This is horrible!! These violent and heartless people need to go to jail and caged like the animals that they are. I am absolutelt mortified and so saddened by the video. Thank God for Peta..

To Laura Harrington
SORRY to BURST your bubble Laura but as long as you CONTINUE to eat from death, YOUR victims WILL continue to ENDURE this type of abuse...
Do NOT CONDONE your meat addiction on THIS page by your FANTASY of ENSURING humane treatment of the animals you eat as YOU are JUST AS GUILTY as the prosecuted perpetrators AND there are NO defense about it!
What you are stating above has MADE you the FOOL that YOU have just made yourself out to be.....HYPOCRISY my friend, is a TOTAL TURN OFF in MY eyes and a sin BEYOND REPAIR. You had BETTER WAKE UP as living in this DREAM WORLD you CHOSE to exist in so you can CONTINUE to pursue your PETTY desires has caused you to become UNAWARE of REALITY!
WAKE UP SILLY ONE
EVERYBODY!
If you are a meat addict with NO plans of recovering, PLEASE leave your comments OFF this page and TO YOURSELF as you are the causes and reasons for this HOLOCAUST to remain in existence, you ARE GUILTY as charged!!
HEY DEBBIE...hmmm, isn't it peculiar how someone who's 'just doing his job' ends up on the WRONG side of the law on his way to jail??? odd, isn't it?
NOT the BRIGHTEST STAR in the sky, ARE YA?

Great job PETA. I have written two letters to Hormel. I received a response for my first letter denying any affiliation with this Iowa farm. No response to my second letter thus far. I will continue to badger Hormel for as long as it takes. My family and friends are boycotting ALL Hormel products and I continue to advise others of their practice and request they do the same. The only thing that keeps me sane after viewing only a small portion of the original video is knowing that "God has a special place in HELL for anyone who treats any animal with such cruelty." Praise God and PETA. Many blessings

I just watched some of the video and had to stop. Those aren't men that are doing that to the pigs THAT IS SATAN himself. I wish I could have just 5 mins with those jerks and I would kick them, put a rod up their butts and see how they like it. They are a bunch of pussies!!! They will go to HELL when they die. Not men at all!!

Corporate world IS satan, we are in a PACT with the DEVIL and we've GOT to get OURSELVES back to the garden...
The Garden Of Eden THAT IS, where it ALL started to GO WRONG,
where we got caught in a bargain between God and the Devil as God gives ALL entities
(including his beasts)
FREE WILL TO EVERYTHING in the universe, a kind of metaphysical law...
HELL even the devil gets free will to TRY and destroy humanity from the inside out.
We've GOT to get back and RIGHT whatever it was that we did wrong
and to somehow KNOW the place and RE-ESTABLISH a relationship with God
that is STRONGER than our CURRENT victim relationship with the devil
(capitalism, corporatism greed, materialism, militarism. etc)
and if you are STILL IN THE DARK my friends,
TURN ON TUNE IN www.infowars.com
and
WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!
If THEY can do this to the non human animals, IMAGINE the plans they have for YOU ')
This is NO longer a nation UNDER God....
As it's stated, You are either with US or you are WITH the terrorists, LOL!!!!

This is wonderful news! Thank you PETA and all your supporters. Danielle Bilak is right on the money. I said it before and will say it again -- virtually all serial killers start their evil lives abusing animals. And I have no doubt these sorry excuses for "men" abuse their wives and children. It is a crying shame they will only get two years in prison if convicted. All that will do is make them meaner. In my humble opinion, they would learn a more important lesson if they could be treated exactly the way they treat the poor pigs and piglets! But whatever happens to them -- WAY TO GO PETA!

IT IS TIME TO THINK OUTSIDE THE CAGE. THE FACT THAT THIS MOTHER PIG COULD NOT WALK BECAUSE HER HIND LEGS HAD ROTTED OFF DUE TO A LIFETIME SPENT INSIDE A CAGE SO SMALL SHE COULD NOT MOVE IS A DISGRACE. I AM HOPING AMERICA FOLLOWS EUROPES LEAD IN FREE RANGE SUSTAINABLE ORGANIC FARMING. EUROPE DISCONTINUED CONFINEMENT PRACTICIES YEARS AGO. THANK YOU PETA FOR DOING GODS WORK HERE ON EARTH.

YES !!! I emailed everyone I know, I wrote to Hormel... I watched the video... I encouraged others to do it. It hurt me to see it and dammit I am so happy that PETA is here.. was there... I have spent my whole life sorry for animals before i knew this stuff.... now i am angry. Those guys wouldnt want to meet PETA supporters... I sure hope they get a long term in jail.. shouldnt there be a list of dangerous offenders for these kind of people ?
Posted by: margaret hiltz | October 23, 2008 06:26 PM
Sadly, current laws preclude these sadists from being charged with anything more than a misdemeanor. If even an IOTA of what those pigs went through was unleashed on a cat or dog, there would be FELONY charges and widespread public outrage.
Kudos to PETA.
Posted by: Joseph the Plumber | October 23, 2008 06:30 PM
I'm pretty much of hte opinion that in main.. workers in the pig raising industry or other 'meats' industries go about their daily task in a perfunctory way.. ie. they just do it or get on with it.. but as Peta has foudn and other animals orgs investigating under cover. there will always be the odd or few rotting to the core maggots amongst the rest crossing over the line and excessively hurting or abusing animals.. (because they think and feel it's ok 'they're only animals' and more importantly that they will get away with it..
how I wish the day would come when all these work places or even slaughter houses had some kind of surveillance camera trained on these workers or the work areas.. they would htink twice I think before they tried another one of their nasty dirty tricks.. taking it out on these poor or any poor animal.. these people need a taste of their own medicine.. they're cowards and bullies at heart hurting and excessively mistreating animals becaue they dont' fear 'retribution' from the animals or the same treatment back .. they are despicable..
Posted by: lizc | October 23, 2008 06:32 PM
I am happy they were charged but the consequences are NOT enough. And then those people are still clocking in and working around animals still. They should NEVER be allowed to work around or even own a pet animal. Hopefully more will come out of this and there will be a higher penalty. Good job PETA and keep up the fight!
Posted by: Kristi | October 23, 2008 06:38 PM
AWESOME JOB PETA!
To comment...
A change is in order people...those of you who can't watch this stuff because it is too sad for you - THINK OF THE ANIMALS. As humans, with the ability to reason, we are the only species able to initiate change. I hate watching these videos - but its a reality. It's happening people! Those of you who just dont give a f**k to look are disgusting, heartless people. I love animals more than most people - and for good reason. Humans can be so evil as demonstrated in this video. TRASH! I have nothing but HOPE that things change. Let's make it happen!!
Posted by: Christine | October 23, 2008 07:00 PM
It is due to PETA and the Humane Society that I have converted to a vegetarian lifestyle 2 months ago. I am doing great!
I grew up in a country and a time when farm animals were roaming around on pastures, and had no idea about today’s plight of farm animals. This is holocaust material!
The way we are treating animals, each other, and the planet at large is simply unsustainable.
Thank you so very much for your hard work exposing and educating, thereby steering more and more of us to higher consciousness. With love and light.

I have just managed to sit through half of the video after putting it off for a long time. I think so many of us live in our worlds we just do not allow ourselves to think what is actually being done to these beautiful creatures. I will go to my grave seeing the look on that poor mothers face as she was forced to drag her damaged body past others to her death. HOW and WHY would people do this to any animal let alone one that has so much love for her babies! Her eyes looking at those other mothers will never be forgotten. You poor wee thing! These animals do not deserve this. We all need to move out of our comfort zones and force Govts all over this crazy world to pass laws that stop this crap from happening. As for the people doing this, WATCH YOUR BACKS BIG TOUGH BOYS!! One day you WILL get what you deserve and it won't be from a defensless animal! You are WEAK excuses for human beings. These people should go to jail and be made to clean toilets for a long time. I am so truely shattered by this I vow to do what ever I can to help get rid of this digusting animal abuse. What can we do besides not eating meat (i dont eat meat)?

I also live in Northwest Iowa. When I first heard about this I told everyone I know. Now that I know exactly where this happened, I need to go the court hearing if there is on. Cannot believe there are people out there that do this? No compassion! It's been almost 3 years my husband and I have stopped eating meat....and this is the reason why. I will not contribute to this!
Great Job Peta and bless you that went undercover!

Thank you Peta. After I read into and saw the video I just could not come to eat another animal. The bastards need to root in Jail for the rest of their hick lives and take the same exact abuse they did to these animals. Thank you for being a voice to these beautiful animals that we all love.
Posted by: Joanne Cruz | October 23, 2008 08:34 PM
I couldn't watch the entire video since I became increasingly enraged by the images. I do eat meat even though I'm trying to reduce consumption.
I don't think there's anything wrong with eating animals. However, I do believe that the animals should live a good quality life and be slaughtered humanely.
Factory farming is cruel and despicable, and completely ruled by greed. People who abuse these animals are sociopaths. How someone can enjoy inflicting pain on a living being is incomprehensible to me.
PETA, you do amazing work. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the undercover investigators who capture images for your organization. It must take an incredible toll on their psyches.
I donate money to your organization monthly via credit card and am planning to include you in my will.
Thank you for the excellent work you do on behalf of animals.

I emailed Hormel at their website and told them how disgusting they were to purchase animals from these kind of deranged people. I told them I would never buy another product from them until they also stood behind prosecuting the monsters abusing those poor defenseless animals. I told them those animals are like humans, they feel pain and they have a heart and a brain. I hope everyone of them goes to jail and are treated the way those poor defenseless animals were treated.

Could anyone from Peta tell me if these monsters were arrested? I live in Brazil so I don´t get that type of information. I´m not totally vegetarian yet, I still eat fish and shellfish, and some dairy, though I stopped eating red meat, chicken and turkey 10 years ago. One day I´ll get there. Please keep me posted on this matter. I didn´t see the video and do not want to see it. It really is too much. baby seals, whales, dolphins in Japan, horses bound for the meat trade... Whenever I see photographs it makes me so sick, depressed and angry that I can´t do more for animals than I already do. (Apart from sending posts like this one to everyone I know, I take care of stray cats and dogs in Rio de Janeiro, I spay/neuter and return the cats. The dogs we put up for adoption. But I really wish I could do more. I think PETA you are all a gift from God but I just wish more people would join you and not just praise you like I am doing. If you had an office in Rio de Janeiro, I would certainly love to join PETA. Whenever they need me, I help the WSPA here in Rio though. Please send me any information about what happened to these barbarians. Convictions, etc..

God bless PETA and everyone who had something to do with takeing actions against these horrible people and there evil ways against animals anf for this case the ones before and the ones in the future.

Shari,
I ask you to use some common sense here. The goal is to eliminate animal abuse and cruelty. I would love it if this world were all vegetarian. But, it isn't nor is it going to be. Most men cannot get along without meat. Whether that is really true or just how they feel, they will continue to eat it.
Therefore, we need to direct our energies to those animals being raised in healthy, pleasant environments where they can get fresh air, exercises, and companionship. When the time comes to go to slaughter. That too should be quick and merciful.
I realize EXACTLY what I'm saying here. If you paint with too broad a brush, nothing happens. Capital letters and screaming in email posts accomplishes nothing. To reach a goal, you have to start with something ACHIEVABLE.
Posted by: Karen Saucedo | October 23, 2008 08:51 PM
I could not even watch the whole video because it was so disturbing. I was raised a vegetarian because I am a Seventh day Adventist. These stories make me want to do my best to stay vegetarian. Those poor pigs I wanted to save them. Someday, I want to get a small farm where I could save some animals from a not so pleasent life. That is a dream. But I am happy that things PETA does makes a difference and I am proud to help. Keep me posted on how this goes. I really want these men to be persecuted big time for this. I love what you are doing PETA and keep it up save these animals from torture.

I am 12&I say the prison gaurds should break those bastards' legs and make them walk. 2 years is also not enough. Let them feel the pigs' pain.
Posted by: Dylan | October 23, 2008 09:10 PM
Hormel sent an email back to me denying the charges . They said that wasn't their farm on the video and they only buy adult pigs.

PEACE, LOVE & TRUTH

Sooooo happy these criminals are going to jail. I hope they get raped up the ass and hopefully some other criminal will damage them permanently so they can never work or abuse another animal again. They totally deserve what's coming to them and more. I hope they get a police officer who is a real animal activist that really makes them suffer.
Posted by: michelle Woods | October 23, 2008 10:49 PM
This should be a start of many more fines and charges laid against people and companies who do nothing to stop animal cruelty.
Posted by: Aaron Kirk | October 23, 2008 11:00 PM
I truly do not understand what is wrong with those people? Maybe they are inbreds there in Iowas? I do not eat meat for many reasons, but animal abuse is high on the list for why I stopped consuming it. I hope too that the U.S. can do something right and follow Europe's lead on ethical treatment of animals and free range sustainable farming practices. Animals deserve better.

Posted by: Cynthia | October 23, 2008 11:04 PM
Even if a food source, no animal should be treated as those animals in the video from the PETA investigation. If those men featured in the video can treat innocent animals that way, I wonder what kind of husbands and fathers they are? Abuse is abuse. Those workers committing the abusive acts, as well as those who manage them, should be prosecuted tot he full extent of the law; and perhaps the laws in question are not stiff enough. Thank you PETA for leading this battle. Keep up the good work.

THANK YOU to the people who have the guts to go in and film these awful things.
I lack the courage & emotional balance to ever be of service to PETA doing this.
This is why I have a monthly sum debited from my credit card each month to help.I cannot stand by and do nothing.
I strongly suggest this way of helping to all those who feel powerless to do anything.

I sent a mail to Hormel and they respondend that the farm wasn't of Hormel, they are denying everything!!
the mail is longest, but this is the important part:
"We appreciate and share in your concern. Thank you for contacting us with
your comments.
It is important to note that the farm in the video is not a Hormel Foods'
farm and the people are not Hormel Foods' employees. We do not buy piglets
direct from this farm. We purchase hogs that are fully grown from
finishing farms.
We are following the investigation and subsequent charges also, as we found
the images in the footage from the Iowa farm appalling and inconsistent
with our standards and industry standards for animal handling. The abuse on
the video depicted shows practices that are completely unacceptable"
I don't care if it is Hormel's or not...animals don't deserve this treatment!

Dear Shari,
Just wanted to clear something up. Laura Harrington DID NOT say she ate meat. She clearly stated that there are MANY people who do, and we cannot stop them all. it DOES say in the bible that a small portion of meat is healthy for us to eat, as long as we treat the animals that are used for human consumption humanely. That is all Laura was saying. Nothing about her being a meat-eater....just that most people are.

The beings that have done that to the pigs don’t deserve to be treated like humans. I echo the comments of everyone who has posted on this site. Without the tireless efforts of Ingrid and ALL at PETA these atrocities would never be known to the public. A very special mention must be made of the undercover investigators. Their bravery in having to endure these horrific spectacles every day truly makes them, in my book, worthy of the title "hero". Thank you!! This is a much-welcomed victory but now what? Perhaps the reluctance of Hormel to watch this video (videos) or even speak with PETA warrants a PETA-style full-frontal assault?
Thank you PETA for your incredible work

I got an eamil back from Hormel, saying that they do not buy from that farm and they do not buy piglets ,and that from is not their employees.
If they are stating they do not buy from that farm, i am wondering how PETA knows that they are?
Posted by: christine | October 24, 2008 08:31 AM
I too received a reply back from Hormel which states that they have reviewed the video and were appalled as well. It also states that they do not buy piglets they buy fully grown hogs.
Please see the website for Hormel's Corporate Responsibility page. There are 3 sides to the story...PETA's, Hormel's and the truth (which is somewhere in between).
Please do your own research before jumping to conclusions. I don't have to worry about boycotting Hormel anyway as I don't eat cute little piggies anyway, but I like to do all of my research first before encouraging friends and family/friends to boycott a product.
Good luck to all and thanks PETA for your continued efforts!

I can't watch these videos- they are just too hideous. I do want to thank those that go under cover and secretly film these horrendous crimes.Thank God you are strong enough to do so; otherwise , this would keep happening without anyone ever knowing. What happens to people that they can inflict such agony on another living being? I just don't understand. I pick up spiders, centipedes etc., because I can't(nor do I want to) kill anything. I couldn't live with myself if I purposefully hurt another. I hope these men wake up.

I eat meat and although I am not ashamed that I do, I am ashamed that as humans, children of God, we can not get it together. Tho not their sole purpose, plants and animals were placed here to sustain mankind. More importantly, we were placed as stewards of their welfare.
The time of need to wear animal skin for clothing and warmth is past. The time of self indulging our need for violence aka the blood "sport" of hunting is long past as well.
Having read the lead on the video, I imagined such horror that I could not watch it. You see, I know the cruelty that man is capable of already. I read newspapers, I read the web, I listen to broadcast media; who has not had senseless violence touch their lives?
It is a testament to those of conscience among us that PETA and other such organizations exist. Thank you. Thank you.
Remember, God IS watching us. Respect and expect His wrath.
PS..I am eating less and less meat...knowledge: once you have it, try as you may, you can't give it back.

We cried watching the piglet being slammed into the concrete floor and then writhing, bloody and in pain, on the pile of dead and dying piglets. Why do we have to torture the animal for our pleasure? I'm a vegetarian because I have compassion to the animals. I care about preventing the suffering of innocent creatures. Those who did that it's performing bad deeds that will result in bad effects. GREAT JOB, PETA. I accidently clicked the video at the pig farm (I know that I can not watch these films - even though I work enough with PETA to know what goes on in those horrid places). I have not admit, I did not sleep for two nights and still have the awful images of the pigs being abused. I know that someone has to do it, but if it were me, I would have had to put an end to the pig's suffering by getting rid of that #*#*#*#*, AND I COULD HAVE DONE IT WITH NO PROBLEM.

Thank goodness for an organization such as PETA to undercover these atrocities. I can only imagine the horror for the undercover person who is filming and watching the despicable acts of these evil creatures; he/she must have nightmares about it as I know I would. I began a vegetarian 15 years ago because I was concerned about the amount of hormones pumped into animals and the cancerous effects. In the years to follow, I am glad that I am a vegetarian, almost vegan, because of my compassion for all animals. I believe that these individuals should be prosecuted to the fullest degree of the law and the punishment should fit the crime.

They should have to work at animal shelters for the two years.

GREAT JOB, KEP GOING PETA
Posted by: leti | October 24, 2008 08:17 PM
Great, spectacular- but is the manager, you know the prick that allowed the abuse to go on & was involved in it himself finally fired from the pig plant, or is he still allowed to work there?
Last I heard he was not fired & continues to come in contact with the animals. Isn't that a travesty if he still gets to keep his pathetic scum sucking job?

congratulations to PETA. take those bastards and take a rod and run it up their butt and spray paint in their eyes. take all these crumbs buckets and stick them in a 4x4 ft pen covered in shit and piss and let them lay in it. like these poor animals lay in it. I wish anyone that eats animal FLESH would choke on it. we can live very nicely with out animal flesh. go get them PETA

I like the fact that you guys work full time for defending these animals. It makes my day when those jerks go to trial for cruelty. I HOPE THEY GET WHATS COMING TO THEM!

you guys know that this isn't what it is like at every farm. I know because i work at one

May I say...IT'S ABOUT TIME! Unfortunately, we have to take baby steps to get where we are going. But at least, through PETA, we are going to get there!
In my opinion, the penalties imposed on animal abusers are not stiff enough. I mean, how can a "normal" human being inflict pain and/or torture on a living being? I don't understand these people. Obviously, they don't see what they are doing is wrong. The only way to stop them is by punishment.
Thanks again to PETA, for opening up my eyes to the horror of what happens to animals that are raised for human consumption. I have gone Vegetarian and spread the word WHY I chose to do this. If every individual does his own litte share, someday the end of cruelty on animal "farms" will come. And SOON I hope!! I watch the videos...I want to turn away, but I can't. Watching the truth hurts.

this horrible animal abuse is AGAINST THE LAW!!!so why have they been getting away with it for so long?--It is definitely ILLEGAL--I thought this is USA, where laws are enforced--

I would like to thank PETA and everyone involved in the exposure of these disgusting so-called human beings. 2 years is not nearly enough but if Karma really works - they'll get the same treatment in jail! An eye for an eye. KUDOS to you all!
Christine,
I can't believe you think just because someone can't watch the video - quote - "just dont give a f**k to look are disgusting, heartless people." I give my hard earned money to several animal organizations every month and sign petitions daily on Care2 and PETA when notified and also write my Senators and Congressmen because I love ALL God's creatures. To see an animal tortured is to be scarred for life. I don't need to watch a video to know! I already know, my pet pig was slaughtered in front of me when I was only 9 years old and I have never forgotten the look on her face when they slit her throat or forgotten her squeals till she took her last breath. Now, how does that make me a disgusting heartless person?! I still cry today at 45 years old for all the animals - baby seals, horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, mice, pigs, donkeys and every other of God's creatures that get tortured by humans for their consumption and/or fur. It's bad enough to see pictures all over the internet let alone watch a video! It's disgusting but I don't believe it will ever end. Most humans believe they are superior and that makes them have to show their power to those that are helpless. I thank God every day for PETA and several other organizations for their work to at least expose/prevent the torture humans inflict upon all the beautiful creatures of this world. GOD IS WATCHING and this type of person will pay dearly when they meet their maker.

THANK GOD!!!! I DONT KNOW WHAT JUSTICE IS, HOW CAN YOU JUSTIFY TORTURE, AND KILLING? IT CANT EVER BE TAKEN BACK. GOD IS JUSTICE, AND GOD IS LOVE, AND GOD IS WATCHING, AND GOD IS JUDGING, AND GOD LOVES JUSTICE, IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST. AMEN.

Thanks to everyone who works or interns at PETA- especially the courageous souls who serve as undercover investigators! Keep up the good work!
As for the boys that perpetrated these crimes, undoubtedly they are convinced that they are not only "men," but also a cut above the rest. The truth is that there isn't anything remotely special about them; brainless, sadistic life forms like these are a dime per three-hundred dozen. REAL courage, conviction, and character- as displayed by PETA's undercover investigators, for example- now THAT is unique.

Congrat. to Peta. The same treatment should be inflicted on those guilty;to know what its like. GOD BLESS PETA and all those associated.

I don't want to start a religious debate here, but...Stuff like this made me an atheist. What loving god would watch this stuff and not intervene when he could?
People say we are the only animals that know what morality is. Animals don't commit immoral acts. Think about it. Animals are innocents.

An excellent job indeed by Peta to expose the atrocities faced by the pigs in the Iowa pig farm. I hope more people are inspired by this effort and campaign to end factory farming.

Thank God for PETA and the accessibility of the internet to show these videos. What a perfect setting for these animals abusers. One day we'll look back and wonder how these places could have ever existed. Of course, they wouldn't if we all stopped eating slaughtered animals. Pigs are highly intelligent too, how horrible for them, they are very aware of what's going on. I had no idea these house of horrors exited!!!!
Posted by: DonnaB | October 25, 2008 08:51 AM
I would not watch the video, i can only imagine the abuse and cruelty, lets all hope and pray that these people get what is coming to them.
Posted by: Jaquie | October 25, 2008 09:06 AM
if u will not stop eating animal foods for kindnes then know that these foods will make your body ferile ground for vd germs to grow in and the viruses that start it are all around easy to spread they can grow from the mucus and waste from animal foods md/s know this but don/t tell it as there is too much money to be made from the cancers that will form and the sale of drugs to treat them someone must tell the truth about the link of animal foods and all kinds of vd diseases

Thank you so much Peta for all your hard work and for opening peoples eyes. I hope those scummy animal abusers suffer for the rest of their lives. I must admit (now dont hate me please) i do eat meat from time to time because i believe if meat is banned it would be sold on the black market which would cause even more trouble and suffering for animals but i dont believe that animals should be abused just before they are about to be slaughtered. There should be strict controls and high security in slaughter houses for the safety of the animals. What gives anybody the right to abuse animals even do some are about to be slaughtered? Those workers should be praising that these animals are here residing on this earth with us because at the end of the day (unfortunately) some animals provide people with food and clothes etc. So people need to be more grateful. Nobody has a right to abuse a living being especially animals, they do so much for us and give us more than enough love which we should respect. The world would be so different without animals.
I hope those scumbags learn their lesson and are locked up for a long long time.
Please keep up the good work Peta.... Sheila

When i saw the video of those poor, innocent, helpless pigs, I burst into tears and I never cry. I get on my hands and knees everyday and pray to God this abuse ends. Not a day goes by that i dont think of those pigs. I dont believe people will stop eating animals anytime soon but in the meantime we need to preach humane killing, i pray to God prop2 in ca passes. I for one will no longer eat red meat and hope to stop eating chickens and turkey some day :)

I thank God for Peta and for being able to get to some of these reprobates and degenerates who get pleasure in torturing animals. I pray for the same pain to come to them 100 fold! God did not mean for Mankind to abuse His animals.

BRAVO! Those loosers are going to get what they deserve. I don't wish anyone bad but these ASO's deserve a big punishment and should be treated or worse than those animals that are so innocent. I will let everyone know and im sure they will b happy!
