You Can Help Save A Bear!
Bears aren’t crops to be “harvested”; they are individuals with families, and they feel pain and terror when they are trapped or shot.
In the past five years alone, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has contributed more than £321,000 to the slaughter of black bears for The Queen’s Guards’ ceremonial caps and has refused to find an alternative to the use of real fur.
When former Secretary of State for Defence Adam Ingram was asked if he would make it a policy to use synthetic materials instead of fur, he said, “If an alternative is sourced and found to be fit for purpose, replacement of bearskins will be considered”. What Ingram failed to point out is that the MoD has used this line for two decades.
What You Can Do:
Please e-mail the Secretary of State for Defence, Des Browne using our online form below, and urge him to stop supporting the slaughter of bears immediately and to work on replacing the fur used in the Guards’ hats with faux fur instead.
