The short explanation of this alert was:
Each year, the ice floes off the coast of Canada turn blood-red when more than 300,000 baby harp seals are beaten and skinned for their fur during the nation's cruel annual seal hunt. Hundreds of thousands of baby seals—who are too young to know how to swim away—have their heads bashed in or are shot point-blank. Without witnessing this event for yourself, it is difficult to truly understand how horrific this annual hunt is. The following video footage demonstrates why these seals need your help.
Warning: This video footage is extremely graphic.

The Canadian seal hunt is one of the true injustices of our age. Hundreds of thousands of baby seals are beaten to death year after year, just to satisfy the vanity of a few ignorant people who fail to realize that we don't need to wear animals' skins in order to stay warm.
Please sign this petition and join the millions of people around the world who are calling on the Canadian government to put an end to this cruel tradition. Forward the petition to everyone you know and ask them to join you in signing it.
