Kansas City International (KCI) Airport recently filmed a TV commercial featuring a chimpanzee, and PETA needs your help to get it yanked off the air.
Why does PETA want to see advertisements that use chimpanzees grounded? Click here to get the information.
The KCI spot, which features a 2½-year-old chimpanzee named Kenzie, will be airing on TV sets within the airport. News coverage of the filming is available here. In the commercial, a clothed Kenzie logs on to a computer and purchases airplane tickets, drives to the airport and parks, takes a shuttle to the terminal, and boards a plane.
The Missouri Primate Foundation (a.k.a. Chimparty Pampered Primates), which "owns" Kenzie, has a disturbing record of animal care. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has cited the Missouri Primate Foundation for failing to comply with the minimum standards of the federal Animal Welfare Act, including failing to maintain housing facilities in a manner to ensure the animals' safety, failing to promote good husbandry, providing insufficient sanitation, and keeping primates in cramped, tiny cages.
Please send a message to KCI urging it to stop airing the commercial.
