Demand a Permanent Halt to Dolphin Slaughter in Japan!

From October through March of every year, thousands of beautiful, intelligent dolphins are barbarically murdered in small fishing towns throughout Japan. The Japanese government grants fishing licenses for this annual massacre, during which hundreds of dolphins and other small marine mammals are captured and killed. Some are also captured and sold at exorbitant prices to aquariums, where they are condemned to a life of captivity.

In villages like Taiji, where this video was shot, dolphins are herded into shallow bays and coves, where they are driven into nets. Dolphin hunters spear and hook the gentle animals and then hoist them into the air by their tails. Finally, struggling to stay alive, the dolphins are slit open and their insides are ripped out of their bodies. This torture kills the dolphins slowly; some writhe or fight for their lives for up to six minutes after they are gutted.

Please join us in urging the Japanese government to permanently stop the cruel and unnecessary dolphin slaughter.
