One of the most important animal protection laws ever passed is in serious danger, and we need your help right away to save it.

As you probably know, last year the Chicago City Council passed a groundbreaking ban on the sale of foie gras. Foie gras is a "delicacy" that's made by shoving pipes down the throats of ducks and geese in order to pump massive quantities of fat and grain into their stomachs until their livers become painfully diseased. The ducks are then violently killed, and their bloated, diseased livers are sold as foie gras.

The meat and restaurant industries are pressuring Chicago's aldermen to repeal this humane ban.

If you are a Chicago resident, please sign the petition below. We will send the petition to your alderman so he or she knows that you are against making cruelty to animals legal in Chicago.

Full Petition Text:

Dear Alderman,

Foie gras is made in a very cruel manner - by shoving pipes down the throats of ducks and geese in order to force-feed them enormous quantities of grain and fat, which make their livers become diseased and engorged. The birds are then slaughtered, and their diseased livers are sold as foie gras.

I urge you to demonstrate your compassion by supporting efforts to keep the ban on foie gras firmly in place. Cruelty to animals does not belong in Chicago.
